Leesburg Lighting Season Is Back

Let’s Play Ball…

The regular season has started for our local home grown heros of the diamond playing field. WQBQ Radio is again proud to be the local radio station of choice for America’s greatest past time. Just as in days of our great grandfathers who gathered on the patio with friends, a cold one and a transistor radio you to can listen to every local home game live here on your favorite local radio station WQBQ 1410 Am Radio “The Voice of Lake County” Sports.

FACTS: The Lightning joined the all wood bat collegiate, FCSL in 2007 as an expansion team. According to league officials, Leesburg was a natural pick due to its rich baseball history. In their inaugural season, the Lightning reached the FCSL championship game at Tropicana Field where they defeated the Altamonte Springs Snappers 6-0 to win the FCSL championship. The team did not enjoy the same success in its second season however, finishing third in the regular season and losing in the semifinal playoff round to the eventual champions, the Clermont Mavericks. The team plays its home games at Pat Thomas Stadium.

So grab the family, a buddy or a date and come on out to the ball game. Be sure to wave and say high to the team mascotte “Striker”. Need to take a look at the schedule just click the button below. Hope to see you there.
